Arsenal vs Spuds
22nd December 2007 – Premier League – Emirates Stadium

I stare at my ticket but can’t get out of bed. I have flu or a similar virus and have no energy. It’s the first match I have missed through illness and a disaster that it’s against the scum. It’s too late to give it away too so there will be an empty seat at the stadium today. I just about make it to the sofa and watch the match on sky.

The starting line up today is:

Manuel Almunia
Emmanuel Eboue (Nicklas Bendtner 74)
Kolo Toure
Gael Clichy
William Gallas
Bacary Sagna
Cesc Fabregas
Mathieu Flamini
Alexander Hleb (Gilberto 80)
Tomas Rosicky
Emmanuel Adebayor

Not much happened in the first half. Arsenal had the majority of possession but were not playing well. The fluency was not there ant Tottenham were happy to defend and were doing so well.

Half-Time

The breakthrough came just after the break when Adebayor got on the end of Cesc’s back heel and slotted home his 10th league goal of the season (and his 3rd against Spurs!).

Arsenal continued to dominate the game until the hour mark when it was the Spuds that looked most likely to score the next goal. They scored the equaliser on 66 minutes when Berbatov scored from a tight angle. The keeper should have done better as he wouldn’t have expected to let one in on his near post.

This sparked the Yids into life and they controlled the next few minutes. Robbie Keane hit the bar when he should have scored but a few minutes later it was disaster for Arsenal when the Ref gave a penalty against Toure. Keane stepped up to take it but his shot was very poor and was an easy save for Almunia who made amends for his earlier error.

Bendtner then came on Eboue just in time for an Arsenal corner kick. Cesc whipped the ball in to the box and Bendtner headed passed the rubbish England goal keeper and we took the lead with Bendtner’s first touch of the game!

We hung on and beat the scum.
