Remember me? Arsenal Vs Villareal. Champions League Semi-final 1st Leg
Blackburn vs Arsenal
19th August 2007 - Premier League - Ewood Park

I am watching today’s match on the internet thanks to Star Sports China. The commentary is in English too with ex-arsenal player Brian Marwood the co-commentator.

First Half

Eduardo is making his league debut and there's a starting place for Theo too.

The line up was:

Jens Lehmann
Gael Clichy
Kolo Toure
William Gallas (Philippe Senderos 24)
Bacary Sagna
Francesc Fabregas
Mathieu Flamini
Alexander Hleb
Theo Walcott (Nicklas Bendtner 73)
Eduardo Da Silva (Denilson 64)
Robin Van Persie

It only takes 30 seconds for the first Robbie Savage foul, this may be a record?

It's a bright start by both teams and it looks like it’s going to be a good game, not like the FA cup match at Emirates when they parked 11 players behind the ball.

Blackburn have a couple of wild shots from around 25 yards out but nothing to worry about here.

After only a 3 or 4 mins Lehman is injured during a collision with Kolo Toure and play is stopped for a couple of minutes. Lehman is OK after some treatment and play resumes with a drop ball between Cesc and Savage. Cesc wins the ball but is then kicked by Savage and Arsenal wins the free kick.

Theo is looking quite lively on the right wing and is making some good runs but as usual there is no end product.

Eduardo is doing OK too, linking well with Robin Van Persie. From what I have seen of him so far I think Eduardo will be a good signing for us.

On 18 mins we get the ball into a congested Blackburn box. Eduardo and Cesc are unable to score but the ball lands at the feet of RVP who drills the ball into the back of the net for a deserved 1 nil lead.

Just as the goal went in Blackburn, the fulltime whistle blows at Eastland’s where Man City have beaten Man Ure 1 nil. Ha ha ha!

A couple of mins later Gallas goes down after a challenge from Santa Cruz. It wasn't a bad tackle but Gallas is in pain and is signalling to the bench and goes off for treatment. 30 seconds later Arsenal reject David Bentley is booked for a foul on RVP. It's a very physical match and there's a danger it might boil over.

Gallas is substituted and on comes Big Phillip Senderos with the armband being passed to Toure.

Flamini is booked for charging into Savage and a minute later Samba id booked for a foul on Cesc. It needs to calm down a bit.

Arsenal are saved by the woodwork as Nelson's header hits the post on 32 mins but apart from this they have not had any real chances.

On 35 mins Theo breaks away on the right and comes inside the area but instead of the shot he squares the ball to Van Persie n the middle of the box the ball is over hit and Robin can't reach it. It goes out for a goal kick.

It’s a good spell for Arsenal and we are playing some good football. It's actually a very good game.

5 minutes of added time is played and we dominate this period. Senderos has a good header deflected away from a RVP corner.

Savage is being the usual pain in the arse and is finally booked for clipping the heels of Cesc.

Half time

Blackburn start brightly but the possession is quite even.

On 49 mins Savage goes down in the box and appeals for a penalty after there's contact with Toure, but it wasn't given - it was outside the box too! Lily Savage!

On the hour mark Senderos has a header just off target but the match is end to end at the moment.

Mark Hughes has words with RVP after he prevents Blackburn taking a quick free kick. Robin tells him where to go!

Clichy gets booked for a late tackle on Bentley. The subsequent free kick is whipped into the box but somehow gets deflected over the bar.

Under the cosh a bit at the moment but off sides and bad finishing is saving us so far,

With 25 minutes remaining Denilson comes on for Eduardo, who had a good game today.

RVP goes down injured holding his foot on 70 mins which doesn't look very good but he gets up and looks like it’s going to be OK.

Blackburn level. A Dunne shot from 25 yards out if fumbled by Lehman and it goes in.

Bendtner comes on for Theo for our final substitution.

RVP gets booked for bad tackle on Dunne which is born out of frustration.

Blackburn are pressing well, are asking all of the questions at the moment and are looking most likely of winning this match.

OK, I spoke to soon! At the other end Freidle loses the ball but we are unable to put the ball in the net.

There's an off-the ball incident between RVP and Bentley but its calmed by Cesc. When play resumes Cesc is clattered by Gamst-Pederson and it looks like it's going to kick off.

RVP need's to calm down too or he'll get sent off.

There is a sending off but it's Nelson for Blackburn for a second yellow after bringing down RVP when he was through on goal. There's 10 mins left. Come on Arsenal!

More fouls and two Blackburn substitutions eat away the last few minutes and it turns out to be a frustrating away day for the Gunners as it ends 1-1.
