Bolton vs Arsenal
29th March 2008 – Premier League - Reebok Stadium

The Line up today is:

Manuel Almunia
Philippe Senderos (Theo Walcott 60)
Gael Clichy
Kolo Toure
William Gallas
Abou Diaby
Cesc Fabregas
Mathieu Flamini
Alexander Hleb
Nicklas Bendtner (Emmanuel Adebayor 60)
Robin Van Persie

We get off to a good start and after 2 mins Bendtner is through on goal but good defending by Bolton and the ball end up out of play for goal kick

It’s absolutely pissing down and looks like miserable conditions for a match. This will definitely suit Bolton more than Arsenal.

RVP has a clear shot on goal after 8 mins but it’s straight at the keeper. The linesman flagged it as off-side (wrongly) so it wouldn’t have counted anyway.

10 mins – We win a corner which is knocked in towards Senderos, but it’s cleared by Bolton.

A minute later RVP’s free kick goes across the box, Bendtner is unmarked but is unable to reach the ball.

12 Mins – RVP shot goes well over. It’s a good spell for Arsenal.

Bolton Score in the 13th minute, against run of play. The ball is played wide on right before being crossed into the box where it’s headed in by Matthew Taylor.

Now we are the side under pressure. The ball is whipped in again and again.

Bolton are happy to be counter attacking and doing a good job at it.

They win a corner in the 19th min but we are able to clear.

21 mins – Kolo makes a good run into the box and wins us a corner. Nothing comes of it.

25 mins - Bolton free kick after a foul by Hleb. Ball whipped into box and Almunia makes a mess of it. There are a couple of blocked shots that follow but we finally clear the ball to relieve the pressure.

Our corner kick in the 27th minute ends with a deflected Kolo shot going wide. The next corner has another Arsenal shot but is deflected wide by Gallas (who didn’t know much about it) and the goal kick is given.

30 mins - Diaby sent off for late lunge. Correct decision.

32 mins - Bendtner has shot deflected towards the goal but keeper saves.
A Cesc shot is blocked by Andy O’Brian in the 37th min after good spell by Bolton.

Bolton’s 2nd goal comes in after 43 minutes. Matthew Taylor’s shot is deflected into the goal by Gallas.

44 mins - Cesc booked for late tackle (Lucky only a yellow).

45 mins - Booking for Kevin Davis for foul of Kolo Toure.

46th mins Flamers lots of time and space but shot goes over the bar.

Half-Time

46 mins – Senderos gives away a corner after some pressure from Kevin Davis, but the corner kick is cleared.

Under pressure now. Another corner to Bolton, then another, then another.

51 mins - Fabregas shot goes over.

More pressure from Bolton with lots of chances from being blocked. We can’t get the ball at the moment. Lots of free kicks are being given away far too cheaply. You can’t keep giving free kicks to Bolton around the area and expect to get away with it.

55 minutes - Almunia fouls Kevin Davis OUTSIDE of the area and is lucky not to get booked.

Another 3 corners for Bolton and we can’t get out of our half now.

Another Corner for Bolton.

Subs: Adebayor and Walcott on for Senderos and Bendtner.

We win a corner in 61st minute when RVP has a shot blocked. The ball comes in and misses everyone as it goes to the far post. Gallas is there and taps in to puts us back in the game. Come on you Gunners.

We finally start to put Bolton under pressure and we win another corner in the 66th minute. Cesc takes it but it’s poor and doesn’t beat the first man.

We win a penalty! Hleb is taken down by Cahill in the 67th minute. RVP steps up to take it. He scores. Get in there, 2-2.

It’s going well. We seem to be getting the luck of the ball now, the rub of the green that has been missing for the past few matches. For the first time in the match we look most likely to score and to go on and win the game.

Adebayor attempts to chip the keeper on 74 mins but fails and the ball goes wide.

Bolton player faces look beat now, but they don’t stop fighting for the ball.

Bolton make a double substitution with 12 minutes to go. I’m pleased to see that as they can’t waste any time later on now.

Adebayor makes a good lay off to RVP but he can only shoot over the bar.

Bolton start to time waste.

Theo makes an excellent run and takes on 3 defenders before passing to RVP who misses the target once more.

More time wasting from Bolton.

Bolton have another chance on 82 mins but Arsenal clear and counter attack before we loses the ball in a fair tackle.

Gavin McCann has a long range effort for Bolton but it goes well over.

In the 84th minute we win a free kick about 5 yards from the Bolton penalty area. RVP takes it and puts a ball to the far post there’s no one there and it’s cleared.

Cesc has a shot blocked but we keep possession before the ball is cleared back to Almunia.

88 mins - Another RVP shot misses the target.

89 mins – Goal! Cesc’s shot is deflected in for 3-2 to Arsenal. It seems to bounce of two Bolton players on the way in! Even better!

There are 4 minutes of added time and it’s going to be pretty nervy.

91 min RVP replaced by Justin Hoyte as we decide to hold on to this victory.

Bolton have a couple of half chances but we clear both times.

Theo makes a good run in the last few seconds to win us a throw in and as soon as it’s taken the final whistle is blown.

A fantastic turnaround coming from 2 down with 10 men to win by 3 goals to 2.
